This Privacy Policy explains how the mobile game Tales of Carbonara (the "Game") handles information. It applies to the Game on Android and iOS. "We", "us" and "Developer" mean the developer named above, a sole proprietor registered in Poland.
1. The short version
- The Game is made by an independent developer. We do not run any servers, we have no user accounts and no analytics of our own. Apart from messages you send us, we do not receive, store or sell your personal data, and we have no access to the data processed by Google and Apple.
- Your progress and settings are stored on your device. If you turn on cloud sync, they are also stored in your own Apple iCloud or Google Play Games account, which we cannot access.
- To show ads, process purchases, run leaderboards and sync saves, the Game uses services provided by Google and Apple. These companies process certain data themselves, under their own privacy policies. Section 3 lists each service, what it processes and how to contact it.
- If you buy "Remove Ads", the Game stops requesting and showing ads.
- The only situation in which we receive personal data is when you contact us (for example, by e-mail).
2. Data that stays on your device
The Game saves the following only in the Game's private storage on your device:
- game progress, completed stories, best times and in-game currency (mandarins);
- unlocked and purchased items, including whether "Remove Ads" was purchased;
- settings (language, sound, controls, orientation, cloud sync on/off) and which version of the Terms of Use and this Privacy Policy you accepted;
- counters used to decide when an ad may be shown and whether the Game has already asked you to rate it;
- a pseudonymous device key (a one-way hash of the identifier provided by the operating system), used only to correctly merge in-game currency between your own devices when cloud sync is on.
The Game also reads the motion sensor (accelerometer) to rotate the screen and for in-game effects. This data is used instantly on the device and is never stored or sent anywhere.
None of this data is sent to us. You can delete it at any time by deleting the Game (and, if you use cloud sync, by deleting the cloud data as described in Section 3).
3. Third-party services used by the Game
We are the controller responsible for the Game. The Game includes software development kits (SDKs) of Google and Apple. For the collection of data through these SDKs while you use the Game and for its transmission to Google or Apple, we may be jointly responsible with the respective provider. Google and Apple decide independently how they further process that data and act as independent controllers for that processing, under their own privacy policies and terms.
The services below are built into the Game. When you use the Game, they may process data directly on behalf of Google or Apple. We do not receive this data. We only use third-party services whose own privacy commitments and data protection terms provide at least the same level of protection for your data as described in this Privacy Policy.
3.1 Google AdMob — advertising (Android and iOS)
- Provider: Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA; for users in the European Economic Area and Switzerland, Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.
- What it processes: IP address (which may be used to estimate your approximate location), advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID; on iOS the advertising identifier only if you allow tracking), app set ID and other device or app identifiers, device and app information, interactions with ads (views, taps) and diagnostic information (such as app launch time and hangs).
- Why: to show ads, limit how often you see them, measure their performance, prevent fraud and keep the service secure. Ads help keep the Game free.
- Ad content: ads in the Game are limited to content suitable for teenagers (maximum ad content rating "T").
- Your choices:
- In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google's consent message is shown before ads are requested. It asks for your consent to store and read information on your device and to use data for personalised ads and ad measurement. If you do not consent, Google may still show limited ads, which are not personalised and do not rely on storing or reading identifiers on your device. You can change your choice at any time in the Game: Settings → More → Privacy choices.
- On iOS, the advertising identifier is used only if you allow the Game to track you when iOS asks. You can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- On Android, you can delete or reset your advertising ID in Settings → Privacy → Ads (or Settings → Google → Ads).
- You can manage ad personalisation in Google's My Ad Center: https://myadcenter.google.com
- Buying "Remove Ads" stops the Game from requesting and showing ads.

3.2 Google Play Games Services — leaderboards and cloud saves (Android)
- Provider: Google (see 3.1).
- What it processes: your Play Games profile (player name, ID and avatar), the scores you submit to leaderboards, your saved game data (progress and owned items) and diagnostic data about the service.
- Why: to show speedrun leaderboards and to sync your progress between your devices.
- Optional: you can play without signing in to Play Games and you can turn cloud sync off in the Game's settings.
- Visibility: your player name and scores may be visible to other players, according to your Play Games profile settings.
- Deleting data: in the Google Play Games app settings, or in your Google Account — https://myaccount.google.com
- More information and contact: see 3.1.
3.3 Google Play Store and Google Play Billing — purchases (Android)
- Provider: Google (see 3.1).
- What it processes: your purchase and payment details. Payments are handled entirely by Google Play. The Game only receives confirmation of which items you own; it never sees your card or payment details.
- More information: Google Privacy Policy and Google Play Terms of Service — https://play.google.com/about/play-terms/
3.4 Apple Game Center — leaderboards (iOS)
- Provider: Apple Inc., One Apple Park Way, Cupertino, CA 95014, USA; for users in the EU, Apple Distribution International Ltd., Hollyhill Industrial Estate, Hollyhill, Cork, Ireland.
- What it processes: your Game Center nickname and player ID, and the scores you submit.
- Why: to show speedrun leaderboards. Using Game Center is optional.
3.5 Apple iCloud — cloud saves (iOS)
- Provider: Apple (see 3.4).
- What it processes: your saved game data (progress and owned items), stored in your own iCloud account.
- Optional: you can turn cloud sync off in the Game's settings or in iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud.
3.6 Apple App Store — purchases (iOS)
- Provider: Apple (see 3.4).
- What it processes: your purchase and payment details. Payments are handled entirely by Apple. The Game only receives confirmation of which items you own.

3.7 Rating requests (Android and iOS)
- Once, after a number of attempts, the Game may ask the app store to show its standard rating window (Google Play In-App Review on Android, the App Store rating prompt on iOS). The window is displayed by Google or Apple, and they decide whether it appears.
- Any rating or review you leave is sent directly to Google Play or the App Store under your store account and published according to their rules. We do not receive your rating or any information about whether you rated the Game; we only see published reviews, like everyone else.
3.8 Game engine
The Game is built with the open-source Godot Engine. The engine does not collect or send any data.
4. Legal bases (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
For the processing for which the Developer is responsible, the legal bases are:
- your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and the national laws implementing Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive) — for storing and reading information on your device, such as the advertising identifier, and for personalised advertising and ad measurement;
- legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) — for showing limited ads that do not use identifiers on your device, for fraud prevention and security, and for answering your messages;
- performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) — for providing the Game and the items you purchase.
You can withdraw your consent at any time (see 3.1). Withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before it.
5. International transfers
Google and Apple may process data in the United States and other countries. They rely on safeguards such as the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. Details are in their privacy policies.
6. How long data is kept
- We do not keep any data about players.
- If you write to us, your message and e-mail address are stored in our e-mail account with our e-mail service provider, which acts on our behalf. We keep them only as long as needed to answer you and to handle any related claims, and then delete them.
- Data processed by Google and Apple is kept according to their privacy policies.
- Data on your device is kept until you delete the Game.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability and to withdraw consent.
Because we do not hold any data about you, we usually cannot identify you or provide any data. To exercise your rights over data processed by Google or Apple, please contact them directly using the links in Section 3. You can also write to us and we will help where we can.
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. In Poland this is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych), ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warszawa, https://uodo.gov.pl. You can also contact the authority in your own country.
8. Additional information for U.S. residents
We do not sell personal information for money. Under some U.S. state laws, showing personalised ads through Google AdMob may be considered "sharing" or "targeted advertising". You can opt out by deleting or resetting your advertising ID on Android, by not allowing tracking on iOS, by managing ad personalisation in My Ad Center, or by buying "Remove Ads".
9. Children
The Game is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided personal data in connection with the Game, please contact us and we will help you contact the relevant service provider. Parents can also turn off ad personalisation on the device or buy "Remove Ads".
In the European Economic Area, people under 16 (or under the lower age set by the law of their country) cannot consent to personalised advertising by themselves. If you are under that age, please decline in Google's consent message or ask a parent or guardian to decide. Regardless of age, ads in the Game are limited to content suitable for teenagers.
10. Security
Apart from messages you send us, which we keep in a password-protected e-mail account, we do not store player data. Google and Apple transmit data using encryption (TLS/HTTPS).
11. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy, for example when the Game or the services it uses change. The new version will be published at the same address and in the Game, with a new effective date. If you continue using the Game after an update, the updated version applies.
12. Language
This Privacy Policy is available in English and Polish. For users who live in Poland or are Polish citizens, the Polish version prevails. In all other cases, the English version prevails. Any other translation is provided for convenience only.
